Antonia Font is one of my favourite Catalan bands. I know this is no ‘videoart’ but I guess I can say its more or less videoart, you have to see the video clip.
In my opinion music videos and videoart are related most of the times. Wa yeah is also one of my favourite songs and I do think this clip is videoart, just enjoy it, darlings!

‘I’m not the girl who misses much’ is a videoart by Pipilotti Rist.

About Pipilotti

Her real name is Elisabeth Charlotte Rist. She was born in 1962 in Grabs, Sankt Gallen, in Switzerland. Since her childhood she has been nicknamed Pipilotti because of the novel Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren, isn’t it lovely? So wait… and carry on reading, I really like her!

During her studies Pipilotti began making super 8 films. Her works generally last only a few minutes, and contained alterations in their colors, speed, and sound. Her works generally treat issues related to gender, sexuality, and the human body. In contrast to those of many other conceptual artists, her colorful and musical works transmit a sense of happiness and simplicity. Rist’s work is regarded as feminist by some art critics. Her works are held by many important art collections worldwide.

What I think

Wow, I think this video it’s amizing, you have to see it till the end… it’s changes all the time, asume dudes! I think this video is very connected with music, well, Pipilotti was in the band Les Reines Prochaines, so maybe that’s why!, please pay special attention to the effects, and also the idea and remeber it was made in 1986!, and yes Pipilotti is the girl that dances and sings and does everything!

Fantasia, Walt Disney

If there’s one thing we have to admit is that Disney have done videoart!, a proof of that is the following video: ‘Fantasia’ from Walt Diseny.

They say that it was the first movie with Bamby or Snow white, I’m not sure right now, so if you know it, please share your knowledge with this tired videoartist vlogger! (hehe).

The thing is that Fantasia didn’t like as much as the other movie, that was much more traditional, so that’s why Walt Disney took that line and it has done all the movies about princess and that kind of stuff… now, please, can you imagine just for a moment what could had happened if it had been the other way round?, probably we would have had a very different audiovisual education while we were children and then…, and maybe I’m a bit paranoid, we would have had another way of watching cartoons, and then as a consequence, we would have had another way to face our life. Maybe I’m a bit overacting, but… what do you thing?, I mean, the audiovisual education is way important when we are children, I mean, they are showing you and sending you lots of messages that sometimes we aren’t able to decode.

In my opinion, taking Fantasia as a reference, I do think that maybe our education could have been way better whit this kind of movies that weren’t afraid of showing, for example, sexual connotations in a more natural way.

About Tomek Baginski

Tomek Baginski was born on January the 10, 1976, in Białystok, Poland. He won a BAFTA Award, but is best known for his Oscar nomination of his short movie The Cathedral (2002). I think that Baginski has a lot of great work to do, he is very young and I will follow him, we will see!

About Fallen Art

This is Baginski newest short, Fallen Art (2004). For this short animation he received a BAFTA Award for Best Short Animation and Grand Prix for Digital Shorts at Golden Horse Film Festival 2005. Baginski also created cinematics for The Witcher computer game based on the books of Andrzej Sapkowski.

In my opinion this short animation is videoart, or at least, but not at last, it talks about videoart. As you can see in the animationthey are doing art, The fallen art. And it consists of a deranged method of stop motion photography, where the individual frames of the movie are created by photographs depicting the bodies of dead soldiers.

Hi mates, I’m back… and I’m back not in black, but in XXX!
Well I really consider this video as a vide art, I think this is very difficult to do, and at least, maybe you don’t like it, but you can see here is a lot of work, and maybe it’s a kind of fools work, but I like it and I wanted to share it with you.

This video has been made recently for the Diesel party. Diesel, as you already know is an italian jeans brand, and they were having a universal party in 17 different countries last week, 11th October 2008, and that was their ad, original, ah?

I don’t know who is the designer of the video, if you know it please let me know!

‘Wonder Woman’ is a video art from Dara Birnbaum a very feminist video artist. I found out this video because one of my friends, Diana Yuste, told me, she also has it in her blog: El praxionoscopio. I liked so much the video and the artist that I wanted to share it with you, guys!

About Dara Birnbaum

She was born in 1946 in New York, USA, where she stills living and working. She is famous because she uses video to reconstruct television imagery using as material such archetypal formats as quizzes, soap operas, and sports programmes. Her techniques involve the repetition of images and interruption of flow with text and music. She is also well known for forming part of the feminist art movement.

What I think about ‘Wonder Woman’

‘Wonder woman’ video art was made in 1978. I think that Dara is doing a critical video about what is a woman, or a ‘wonder woman’ for our society. I think this video art is very interesting and very famous, Dara succeed making wonder woman seem really stupid with all that repetitions of her transformations: ‘wonder woman, wonder woman‘ and all the explosions, amazing!

The best… the lyrics and the voice of the last song! I’m wonder, wonder woman…

Hello world!, first of all my friends, I think you should read what is this vlog about, and as you will see it is about video art. I am very happy to start with this vlog with a Jan Savnkmajer‘s video. The one I choose is called: ‘Meat love’ and it is as funny as tragic.

About the Artist:

Jan Svankmajer was born the 4th September 1934 in Prague. He is a Czech surrealist artist. His work spans several media. He is known for his surreal animations and features, which have greatly influenced other artists such as Tim Burton, Terry Gilliam, The Brothers Quay and many others.

What I think about ‘Meat love’:

Well I do think this is a very experimental video, and I liked so much so I wanted to share it with you. I think this is kind of tragic, it looks like it is a food love story and well it ends very badly, or very toasted?, make your own opinion, please!
